On November 21-29 the 33rd Torino International Film Festival was held  in Italy.

“Hayk: Escape”, first part of Harutyun Khachatryan’s “Endless Escape, Eternal Return” documentary, received “Best International Documentary” award (http://www.torinofilmfest.org/en/news/516/32nd-torino-film-festival-official-awards.html).

10 documentaries from USA, Brazil, Canada, Germany, UK, Singapore, Belgium, Syria and Armenia were nominated.

The jury included Czech documentarian Marek Hovorka, French film critic Jean-Batiste Morin  and  German film director and cinematographer Fred Kelemen who handed the prize for the following reason:

“With his sense for the genuin filmic elements and its conscious and careful use Harutyun Khachatryan brings the audience in contact with the transforming flow of history and in an almost physical touch with reality.

Through the profound beauty of the images, the use of time and the atmospherical sound and music the loneliness of man in this world is transcended to a metaphysical level where it connects the audience with the bare human being and its quest and struggle for happiness, freedom and affiliation”.

The premier screening of “Hayk: Escape” took place on April 30 at “Vision du Reel” Film Festival in Nyon, Switzerland. Till now the film has participated in about 10 international film festivals, including international film festivals in Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Algeria, Geneva, “Cinedoc” Documentary Film Festival in Tbilisi. At the International Film Festival in Kosovo “Hayk: Escape”, which was presented in international documentary competition, received “Special Jury Award”. In 2012 the film received “Best Film” and “Best Director” awards at “Hayak” National Cinema Awards.

The second film of Harutyun Khachatryan’s “Endless Escape, Eternal Return”, which tentative title is “Levon: Deadlock” or “Green card”, tells about engineer Levon; this film is now being edited.
