Partnership With Foreign Embassies

GOLDEN APRICOT 12th Yerevan IFF presented the cooperation with a number of Foreign Embassies in the RA at a joint press conference today, July 8th. The conference speakers-Mr. Jean-François Charpentier the French Ambassador to Armenia, Ms. Annemarie Kulmann, Cultural attaché of the Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany in RA, Ms. Meline Yeghoyan, the Officer of Cultural Promotion of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Mark Kalinin, the Director of the Russian Center of Science and Culture of the Embassy of Russian Federationand Mrs. Susanna Harutyunyan, GOLDEN APRICOT Yerevan IFF Artistic Director.

GOLDEN APRICOT Yerevan International Film Festival is privileged to be traditionally supported by several foreign representations in the Republic of Armenia. A number of festival initiatives were made possible by the generous support of the Embassy of the French Republic, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland as well as the Embassy of Russian Federation and other international organizations.

Thanks to the traditional cooperation with the Embassy of France in Armenia, a few joint initiatives will be implemented in frames of the 12th GOLDEN APRICOT IFF. In particular, the program New French Cinema will be held during the festival. It will include the best recent French films.

The film Caprice is the opening film of the New French cinema program. The film’s producer Frédéric Niedermayer will be present at the Yerevan premiere.

With the support of the Embassy of France it became possible to host a number of prominent French filmmakers at GOLDEN APRICOT:

French-Armenian film director Robert Guédiguian will arrive in Yerevan to be the Main Jury president of GOLDEN APRICOT IFF. His film Don't Tell Me the Boy Was Mad, which was presented in the Special Screenings section at the 2015 Cannes, is the Opening film of the festival.

Patrick Chesnais, the prominent French actor, will be an honorable guest of the festival. He is the lead actor in Not Here to be Loved by Stefan Brize and will attend the Yerevan premier of the film.

In different programs of  12th GOLDEN APRICOT there are more than 14 French co-productions and French films including Stéphane Brizé’s The Measure of a Man (Cannes Film Festival's official selection).

Within the frames of the GOLDEN APRICOT a GERMAN NEW CINEMA program will be held in cooperation with the Embassy of Germany and Goethe Institute-Tbilisi. The program will feature the selection of the best of recent German films.

There is also a large selection of German films in the four main competition programs of GOLDEN APRICOT. For example, Marc Brummund’s film Sanctuary (2015) is included in the main competition.

The Embassy of Poland in Armenia supports the Polish Film Day event.Małgorzata Szumowska’s Berlinale Silver Bear winning film for Best Director Body will be screened.

A number of Polish films are presented in the competition sections, mainly in the "Apricot Stone" Short Film Competition.

The renowned Polish film director Krzysztof Zanussi will also arrive in Yerevan.

 The Russian Federation Embassy in Armenia and the Russian Center of Science and Culture are supporting the representation of Russian films within the frames of the festival. Russian films are included in almost every program.

Pioneer Heroes by Natalya Kudryashova is to open the “Directors across Borders” film program.

The leading Russian news media and journalists are always very actively involved in the news coverage of GOLDEN APRICOT. This year the festival will be hosting Russian film journalists and critics Andrei Plakhov (“Kommersant”), Daniil Dondurey and Zara Abdulayeva, who write for the famous Russian film magazine “Iskusstvo kino”.

It is also important to mention the ongoing cooperation with Ruben Vardanyan’s IDeA foundation which has stood beside GOLDEN APRICOT for the third year and has supported various programs within the festival.

GOLDEN APRICOT Yerevan International Film Festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture. The general partner of the festival is VivaCell-MTS.
