In the frames of Istanbul International Film Festival the film “Do not forget me Istanbul” had its world premiere. The film tells stories of people from different nationalities, who are linked to each other by multicultural Istanbul. It is made of five short films, directors of which are representatives of different nations: Armenian, Greek, Jewish, Palestinian and Turkish. The producer of the project is Husein Karabey. The author of one part of the project is a Golden Apricot winner Eric Nazarian. It tells about an Armenian from Diaspora, who plays oud and comes to Istanbul in quest of his grandfather’s ancient house-studio, who used to be a famous oud-player in the past. Armenians’ cruel destiny in Turkey is presented through a story of one family. The French-Armenian actor Jack Nercessian plays the leading role. It’s noteworthy that during the premiere screenings in the centre of Istanbul, the word “Genocide” was stated for the first time in the history.
The Armenian audience will have the chance to watch the film in July in the frames of 8th Golden Apricot International Film Festival.
