GOLDEN APRICOT Yerevan 9th Internatioanl Film Festival is started!

GOLDEN APRICOT Yerevan International Film Festival first day started with press conferences: the conferences agenda included a part of Armenian Panorama Competition Program films presentation. Nine of Armenian documentaries were presented to the media representatives, in particular: “The Armenian Bread” by Armen Gasparyan, “My Little Prince” by Armen Ronov, “Arzuman” by Aneta Ohanj, “New Julfa. To be” by Arsen Gasparyan, “Two Paths” by Vahe Yan, “Kostan Zaryan. the Lonely Soul of the Armenia Literature” by Hayk Kbeyan, “Armine and Lady Macbeth” by Misha Ghazaryan, “Together with my Sons” by Taron Petrosyan, “They Call me Ashik” by Arthur Khudoyan.

The Festival first day then continued with one of the most beautiful traditions of GOLDEN APRICOT- the apricots Blessing ceremony. Guests both from Armenia and abroad were pleased to participate at the unique occasion.

And of course the day was summarized by probably one of the most important events- the festival official opening. The Red Carpet march in front of Moscow Cinema was followed by the main ceremony. The soiree agenda included not only the presentation of this year competition program and the Jury Board, but also the granting ceremony of “Parajanov’s Thaler” Award to two of the festival honorable guests. “Parajanov’s Thaler” was awarded to distinguished Spanish director- Mr. Viktor Erice. Then. Mr. Roman Balayan, renowned Russian director, was invited on stage to grant a “Parajanov’s Thaler” award to famous Georgian director- Mr. Eldar Shengelaya.

GOLDEN APRICOT Director- Mr. Harutyun Khachatryan and the Festival General Sponsor –VivaCell-MTS General Director- Mr. Ralph Yirikian officially announced GOLDEN APRICOT Yerevan 9th International Film Festival opened. This was followed by the screening of Hamo Beknazaryan’s “Shor and Shorshor” comedy. The film, which was produced in 1926, was presented newly: it was accompanied by the jazz live arrangements developed especially for this occasion by Vahagn Hayrapetyan and his jazz band.

The opening ceremony was anchored by Gerald Papasian.
