Cinema Journalism Across Borders

To develop the film industry in Armenia and the whole region, “Golden Apricot” International Film Festival together with the “Armenian Association of Film Critics and Cinema Journalists”, supported by Open Society Institute and cooperating with “Azg” and “Golos Armenii” newspapers, have undertaken the realization of the “Cinema Journalism Across Borders” program.

Its aim is not only underlining the importance of cinema journalism, but also deepening the the creative abilities of the journalists covering cinema sphere, cooperating with the colleagues from neighboring countries, getting acquainted to their professional experience.

“Cinema Journalism Across Borders” program will be held in 3 phases:

Phase One:
A three-day seminar entitled “The Problems and Characteristics of Modern Cinema Journalism” will take place in May 9-11 with the participation of Armenian and Russian film critics/cinema journalists. The seminar will be conducted by the director of Moscow Cultural Research institute doctor, professor Kirill Razlogov.

Phase Two:
In cooperation with “Golden Apricot” International Film Festival and “Azg” daily, workshops for Armenian, Georgian, Turkish, Moldovan and Ukrainian cinema journalists will be held from June, 30 to July, 10. The workshops are will be conducted by Peter van Bueren and Andre Wardenburg, well-known cinema journalists invited from the Netherlands. At the end of the program the participants will be provided with the opportunity to cover 5th “Golden Apricot” in the daily (to cover the Festival “Golden Apricot” daily), which will be published on July, 13-20 as “Azg” newspapers appendix.
The working language of the workshop will be English.

Phase Three:
In cooperation with “Golden Apricot” International Film Festival and “Golos Armenii” newspaper, a special competition will be held for for the whole periodical press covering 5th “Golden Apricot”. As a result 3 journalistic works covering the festival will be awarded. The results of the competition will be summarized and published in “Golos Armenii” newspaper after the Festival. ,
