This year the RA Ministry of Culture and “Golden Apricot” Yerevan 5-th International Film Festival will present two joint programs. July 14-19 the PanArmenian film project with participation of filmmakers (mainly directors) of Armenian background from foreign countries and Armenia will take place within the frameworks of the “Golden Apricot” Film Festival.

"Golden Apricot" 5th Yerevan International Film Festival starts on July 13th.
During the five-year existence “Golden Apricot” International Film Festival has become one of the most important cultural events held in Armenia, recognized and respected worldwide by the international film community. Since 2005 the festival runs in the high support of European Cultural Parliament as an important cultural event. In 2007 the European Cultural Parliament granted the festival the right to use the emblem of European Council.

In 1966 Frunze Dovlatyan presented his film, “Hello, it’s me”, after which no further connection was maintained with the famous festival, however, the 5th anniversary Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival has allowed for the reestablishment of the relations.

Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival President Atom Egoyan was awarded the 34th Ecumenical Jury Prize for the humanistic values they discovered in Adoration, a film that explores cultural intolerance and misinformation.

A two-day seminar entitled “The Problems and Characteristics of modern Cinema Journalism” will be held from May 9 to May 11 towards towards “Golden Apricot-2008” Film Festival, in Tsakhkadzor’s “Writers resting house”.

Cinema Journalism Across Borders
To develop the film industry in Armenia and the whole region, “Golden Apricot” International Film Festival together with the “Armenian Association of Film Critics and Cinema Journalists”, supported by Open Society Institute and cooperating with “Azg” and “Golos Armenii” newspapers, have undertaken the realization of the “Cinema Journalism Across Borders” program.
