On February 13th, during massive police operation against advocates, academicians and publishers with pro-Kurdish bias in Turkey, two Turkish filmmakers were also detained: Mizgin Mujde Arslan and Ozay Sahin in relation to KCK operations (Union of Communists in Kurdistan).

Arslan is a director, author and scholar. Sahin is also a director, cinematographer and actor.

Both directors were released On February 16th. The reason stands behind their detention is the film “Lost Grave”, director: Mizgin Mujde Arslan, director of photography: Ozay Sahin.

The film tells about the peace-deprived Turkey and serves as an instrument for spreading serenity all around.

Many Turkish film industry members circulated Petition to raise awareness in the society. GOLDEN APRICOT Yerevan International Film Festival, being pioneer in Armenia-Turkey Rapprochement issue through implementing Armenia-Turkey Cinema Platform, also signed under the Petition and circulated it via the festival’s mail list.

It is worth mentioning that Arslan participated in Directors Across Borders co-production forum for several times. One of the times was with her film project “Lost Grave”.
