Asghar Farhadi

Asghar Farhadi (born 1972, Isfahan, Iran)
He began making 8 mm and 16 mm films in his teens. He studied film directing at Tehran University until 1998, during which time he worked in student theatre as a playwright and director; he also wrote radio plays and directed television programmes. In 2001 he wrote the screenplay for Low Heights (directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia) and in 2003 he made his own internationally successful directorial debut, Dancing in the Dust. He received the Silver Bear for Best Director for About Elly in 2009.
