Synopsis
While film goes into great detail about the First World War, it is also about all wars, and this makes this political and poetic film emphatically topical. The authors show, occasionally with gruesome concreteness, what war can do to people and how war can change people for the good. The title is borrowed from Leonardo da Vinci, who thought that the most terrible pictures of war should be shown, so that people would realize what they were doing to others.
